EXCEPTIONAL CONCERT
LÉVON MINASSIAN & HIS QUARTET
At the Salagon Museum
in Mane - 04300
Saturday June 29 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
A Masterclass, reserved for musicians with their own Duduk, is offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by reservation
“To disseminate through music what is universal within it, and to say what no word or no instrument can say, to say the unspeakable.”
For the first time at the Salagon Museum, in Mane, Armenian music is in the spotlight and who better to embody it than Levon Minassian , admirable Duduk player. This wind instrument which has sung the emotions of the Amenian people for more than 3000 years is listed as a UNESCO world intangible cultural heritage. For this concert, Levon has chosen to present to you a traditional and sacred program, embodied by himself in Duduk and by the warm voice of Roselyne Minassian heard in numerous film scores such as “Va, vis et deviens” by Raduh Mihaelneu. They will be accompanied by Anahit Ter Boghossian on grand piano, by Pierre Nentwig on cello and by Serge Arribas on keyboard.
These traditional songs and tunes mixed with modern instruments are the signature of Armenian Duduk. Today it has become the legendary instrument on the world stage used by international musicians, such as Peter Gabriel or Sting and in the cinema by composers like Hans Zimmer, Jean Claude Petit or Armand Amar. Levon Minassian contributed to the duduk becoming an essential instrument through the purity and depth of its timbre, it is part of universal cultural values by mingling with other instruments from around the world and nourishing its very emotional Armenian influences.
The music that Levon Minassian gives us no longer belongs to what we call folklore, nor to a delimited geographical space called a country, but to this sphere outside of time and duration, where the soul needs to extend to discover that she still has one.
On the program of works by Composers: Avedissian, Babadjanian, Ganatchian, Yegmalian, Khatchadourian, Gomidas, etc.
